What is Reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It was discovered in 1922 by Mikao Usui. It is administered by "laying on the hands," a technique widely practiced for thousands of years. Reiki is a simple yet powerful healing process that uses the life-force energy (chi in China and prana in India) to raise the vibrational level in and around the physical body where negative thoughts and feelings are attached. The Reiki clears, straightens, and heals the energy pathways allowing the energy to flow more naturally and free by clearing away blockages. If one's life-force energy is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress. If it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy. The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy". So Reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force energy." |
